16 “Turn to me and have mercy on me, for I am alone and in deep distress. 17 My problems go from bad to worse. Oh, save me from them all! 18 Feel my pain and see my trouble. Forgive all my sins. 19 See how many enemies I have, and how viciously they hate me! 20 Protect me! Rescue my life from them! Do not let me be disgraced, for I trust in YOU.” ~ Psalm 25:16-20
When life’s problems go from bad to worse, GOD is the only one who can rescue us and reverse the downward spiral. HE can take our problems and turn them into glorious victories. However, there is one requirement – we, like David, must cry out to our GOD, “Turn to me and have mercy on me.” When we are willing to do that, GOD can turn the worst problems or disasters into something wonderful. The next step is ours – GOD has already made HIS offer.
“May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in YOU.” ( 25:21) – If ever there were two powerful forces needed to preserve us along life’s way, they are integrity and honesty. The psalmist asks for these two forces to protect him step by step. Honesty makes us learn GOD’s requirements and strive to fulfill them. Integrity – being who and what we say we are – keeps us from claiming to be honest while living as if we do not know GOD. Honesty says, “This is the Shepherd’s way,” and integrity says, “I will walk consistently in it.”
Turn to us Father GOD and have mercy on us. Sometimes we have problems that go from bad to worse. At those times we feel alone and are in deep distress. Save us from them all. We ask that YOU would feel the pain and see the trouble of those of us who are hurting. Forgive all our sins, LORD. May integrity and honesty protect us, for we put our hope in YOU. We see the Shepherd’s way, and we will walk in it.
