“It was by faith that Moses’ parents hid him for three months. They saw that GOD had given them an unusual child, and they were not afraid of what the king might do.” ~Hebrews 11:23
Moses’ parents trusted GOD to protect their son’s life. They were not merely proud parents; they were believers who had faith that GOD would care for him. As a parent, have you trusted GOD enough to take care of your children? GOD has a plan for every person, and your important task is to pray for your children and prepare them to do the work GOD has planned for them to do. Faith allows us to entrust even our children to GOD.
24 “It was by faith that Moses, when he grew up, refused to be treated as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. 25 He chose to share the oppression of GOD’s people instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin. 26 He thought it was better to suffer for the sake of the Messiah than to own the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking ahead to the great reward that GOD would give him. 27 It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt. He was not afraid of the king. Moses kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible. 28 It was by faith that Moses commanded the people of Israel to keep the Passover and to sprinkle blood on the doorposts so that the angel of death would not kill their firstborn sons.” – Hebrews 11:24-28 – Moses became one of Israel’s greatest leaders, a prophet and a lawgiver. But when he was born, his people were slaves in Egypt, and the Egyptian officials had ordered that all Hebrew baby boys were to be killed. Moses was spared, however, and Pharaoh’s daughter raised Moses in Pharaoh’s own household.
It took faith for Moses to give up his place in the palace, but he could do it because he saw the fleeting nature of great wealth and prestige. It is easy to be deceived by the temporary benefits of wealth, popularity, status, and achievement, and to be blind to the long-range benefits of GOD’s Kingdom. Faith helps us look beyond the world’s value system to see the eternal values of GOD’s Kingdom.
Father give us the courage to entrust our children to YOU. There is no one who can care for and prepare them to do the work that YOU have planned for them, but YOU. Give us the gift of faith to know that YOU love our children more than we do and YOU guide and direct their steps. Only YOU know the plans YOU have for our children.
Help each of us Father GOD, to not be deceived by the temporary benefits of wealth, popularity, status and achievement, but to build our future on the long-range benefits of YOUR Kingdom. Open our spiritual eyes LORD so that we may see beyond the world’s value system and see the eternal values of our heavenly Father’s Kingdom.
