6 “I wash my hands to declare my innocence. I come to YOUR alter, O LORD, 7 singing a song of thanksgiving and telling of all YOUR miracles. 8 I love YOUR sanctuary, LORD, the place where YOUR glory shines.” ~ Psalm 26:6-8
In this verse GOD’s sanctuary can mean either the Tabernacle in Gibeon, the one constructed in the days of Moses; – “Moses was no longer able to enter the Tabernacle because the cloud had settled down over it, and the Tabernacle was filled with the awesome glory of the LORD.” – Exodus 40:35 – or the temporary dwelling of David built to house the Ark of the Covenant – “The Ark of the LORD was placed inside the special tent that David had prepared for it. And David sacrificed burnt offerings and peace offerings to the LORD.” – 2 Samuel 6:17 – Only a priest could place the sacrifices on the alter. Leviticus tells us that anyone who was ceremonially clean could assist a priest in offering the sacrifices (Leviticus 1:2-13). Therefore, David most likely offered these sacrifices to GOD with the aid of a priest. David was openly expressing how he loved to worship GOD. We should worship GOD with the same love and reverence as David did – any time – any place.
“I have taken a stand, and I will publicly praise the LORD.” – Psalm 26:12 – Too often we complain openly about our problems to anyone who will listen and praise GOD only in private. How much better it would be for us to complain privately and like David, and praise GOD publicly.
We love YOU, LORD. We come, openly to YOUR alter singing a song of Thanksgiving and telling of YOUR miracles, YOUR love, YOUR mercy and YOUR grace. We take a stand LORD and we will publicly praise YOU, our GOD and Father.
