6 “YOU have endowed him with eternal blessings. YOU have given him the joy of being in YOUR presence. 7 For the king trusts in the LORD. The unfailing love of the MOST HIGH will keep him from stumbling.” ~ Psalm 21:6-7
David described all that he had as gifts form GOD: his heart’s desire, success and prosperity, a crown of finest gold, long life, splendor and majesty, eternal blessings, and joy. We too, must look upon all we have – position, family, wealth, talent – as gifts from GOD. Only then will we use them to give glory back to HIM.
A good leader trusts the LORD and depends upon HIS unfailing love. Too often leaders trust their own cleverness, popular support, or military power. But GOD is above all these “gods”. If we aspire to leadership, we must keep the LORD GOD at the center of our life and depend on HIM. HIS wisdom is the best strength we can have.
Because David trusted in GOD, GOD would not let him stumble (be removed from the throne). When we trust in GOD, we have permanence and stability. We may lose a great deal – families, jobs, material possessions – but we cannot be shaken from GOD’s favor. HE will be our foundation of solid rock. HE will never leave or desert us.
Thank YOU for YOUR unfailing love Father GOD. YOU have endowed us with YOUR eternal blessings. We find joy just from being in YOUR presence. We trust only in YOU, Father, in YOUR unfailing love that keeps us from stumbling. YOU are our rock, our solid foundation, we know YOU will never leave or desert us.
