12 “For the Word of GOD is full of living power. It is sharper than the sharpest knife, cutting deep into our innermost thoughts and desires. It exposes us for what we really are. 13 Nothing in all creation can hide from HIM. Everything is naked and exposed before HIS eyes. This is the GOD to whom we must explain all that we have done.” ~ Hebrews 4:12-13
The Word of GOD is not simply a collection of words from GOD, or a vehicle for communicating ideas; it is living, life-changing, and dynamic as it works in us. With the incisiveness of a surgeon’s knife, GOD’s Word reveals who we are and what we are not. It penetrates the core of our moral and spiritual life. It discerns what is within us, both good and evil. The demands of GOD’s Word require decisions. We must not only listen to the Word; we must also let it shape our life.
Nothing can be hidden from GOD. HE knows about everyone everywhere, and everything about us is wide open to HIS all-seeing eyes. GOD sees all we do and knows all we think. Even when we are unaware of HIS presence, HE is there. When we try to hide from HIM, HE sees us. We can have no secrets from GOD. Depending on how we are living, it should be comforting to realize that although GOD knows us intimately, HE still loves us. Are you comforted?
Father we thank YOU for YOUR Word. We know that it is full of living power and that it is sharper than the sharpest knife cutting deep into our innermost thoughts and desires. LORD we know what YOU see when YOU look into our souls – help us Father GOD, to replace all of our earthly thoughts and desires with those that are pleasing to YOU. Thank YOU for loving us even when we are so dirty on the inside. Father GOD, we know that no matter how hard we try or how far we run, we cannot hide from YOU. We are naked and exposed before YOU, YOU see all that we think and do – we have no secrets from YOU. Thank YOU, LORD that even though you know us intimately – YOU still love us.
